“What was given to us in blood shall not be surrendered in silence.” - Ava Sira, The Scrolls of Knowing
The Bloodbound is a serious, lore-driven roleplay Free Company of Xaela Au Ra who believe that the old ways of the Steppe are not merely traditions—they are the foundation upon which their people have survived for generations.
Once a small but respected tribe of hunters, warriors, herders, and spiritual keepers, the Bloodbound have been scattered by war, displacement, changing times, and the slow erosion of ancient customs. Their people are dwindling, their ancestral lands are no longer entirely theirs, and the younger generation increasingly finds itself caught between the traditions of their ancestors and the unfamiliar world beyond the Steppe.
Yet the Bloodbound refuse to let their heritage disappear...

About BloodBound
The Bloodbound are not untouched by the modern world.
Some among them believe the tribe must adapt if it is to survive. Others believe that every concession to the outside world is another piece of their identity surrendered.
This creates an ongoing tension within the tribe.
How much can they change before they cease to be Bloodbound?
The elders call for preservation.
The warriors call for strength.
The hunters call for land.
The younger Xaela call for a future.
And somewhere between them lies the uncertain path the tribe must walk.
The Bloodbound are therefore not a perfect or idyllic tribe. They are proud, stubborn, sometimes insular, and deeply protective of their own. Their traditions can be beautiful, but they can also be harsh. Ancient laws occasionally conflict with the realities of the modern world, forcing the tribe to confront uncomfortable questions about what should be preserved—and what may need to change.
Structure
The Bloodbound Way
The tribe's culture revolves around several sacred principles:
Blood— Family, ancestry, and the responsibility to those who came before.
Land — The Steppe is not simply territory. It is home, memory, and inheritance.
Hearth — No Bloodbound should be abandoned while there remains a place beside the fire.
Hunt — Survival requires skill, patience, sacrifice, and respect for the creatures that sustain them.
Oath — A Bloodbound's word carries weight. Betrayal of an oath is considered a betrayal of the tribe itself.
Memory — The dead remain part of the living through stories, names, traditions, and remembrance.
Life Within the Bloodbound
The Free Company functions less like a conventional adventuring company and more like a tribal community.
Members may serve different roles: hunters, warriors, healers, craftsmen, herders, storytellers, spiritual practitioners, scouts, traders, or emissaries. Not every Bloodbound is a warrior, and strength is measured by what one contributes to the survival of the whole.
The tribe gathers around communal fires. Elders tell stories of ancestors. Children learn the skills they will need to survive. Hunters bring meat home to the hearth. Warriors train alongside younger members. Disputes are settled through tribal custom, discussion, ritual, or—when necessary—trial by combat.
Births are celebrated.
Deaths are mourned.
Coming-of-age is earned.
And the names of the ancestors are spoken so they are never forgotten.
The World Beyond the Steppe
The Bloodbound are not isolationists by necessity.
They understand that the world has changed.
They may trade with outsiders, travel to distant lands, work alongside other peoples, and even form friendships beyond the tribe. Some Bloodbound may become adventurers or mercenaries. Others may establish themselves in the cities.
But wherever they travel, they carry the tribe with them.
This creates opportunities for RP involving tribal diplomacy, cultural clashes, exploration, survival, family drama, romance, generational conflict, spiritual traditions, hunting expeditions, political intrigue, and the struggle between ancient customs and modern life.
The Free Company becomes a place where characters can ask difficult questions:
What does it mean to belong?
How much are we willing to sacrifice to preserve our people?
Can an ancient tradition survive in a changing world?
What happens when the laws of our ancestors conflict with our own conscience?
And if our people are dying, what are we willing to become to save them?
The Central Story
At its heart, The Bloodbound is a story about survival.
Not merely surviving a battle.
Not merely surviving the wilderness.
But surviving as a people.
Their greatest enemy may not be any single foe. It may be assimilation, displacement, dwindling numbers, forgotten traditions, internal division, and the slow realization that the world no longer waits for them.
The Bloodbound believe they have been entrusted with something sacred.
Their ancestors endured so that they could exist.
Now it is their turn.
They will hunt.
They will bleed.
They will remember.
And they will endure.
Because the blood of their ancestors runs within them—and the Bloodbound do not forget.

Those of the Blood

Ibn Sabur
First Blood • Khan of the BloodbornIbn Sabur was not born to lead, he was forged into it.As a child of the Azim Steppe, he knew the warmth of tribe and the strength of blood. Then it was taken from him. His people were lost, his home swallowed by hardship, and before he was old enough to understand the cruelty of the world, Ibn was sold into the flesh trade of Ul'dah. The Steppe had taught him how to survive.Ul'dah taught him how to endure. He found himself beneath the sands of the pit fighting rings, where men bought blood and called it sport. There, with nothing left to lose, Ibn learned the only law that mattered:Stand. Fight. Survive. He fought until his name became known. He fought until the chains that held him could no longer hold him. And when freedom finally came, he carried something out of those pits that no master could ever take from him—his will. Now Ibn Sabur has returned to his own kind.He leads The Bloodborn not from a throne, but from the front of the line. He asks no warrior to walk where he would not walk himself. He carries the scars of his past without shame and bears the weight of his people without complaint. He is not loud.He does not need to be.His strength is found in the silence before a fight, the hand that steadies a frightened kin, and the certainty in his eyes when others falter.Ibn does not apologize for leading. He does not ask permission to protect his people. He does not bend simply because the world demands it.Now that he has returned to the Steppes—he intends to ensure that what remains of his people will never again be taken without a fight. He is Bloodborn.
He is The First of His Line.
And he will stand before his people until there is no breath left in him to stand.

Ava Sira
Xaela Healer • Bloodborn Companion • Keeper of the Old WaysBorn beneath the endless sky of the Azim Steppe, Ava Sira was raised among a small Xaela tribe where the old ways were not stories, but survival. From an early age, she was taught to read the land, recognize the language of wounds, and gather what the earth was willing to give. By adulthood, she had become a healer—keeper of herbs, bones, blood, and the quiet rites spoken over the dying. But the Steppe changes those who walk it.Whatever drove Ava from her birth tribe, she does not speak of it freely. Some say she left after a blood debt. Others whisper that she carries the name of an ancestor who should have remained forgotten. Ava herself offers only a knowing smile when questioned. Now she serves The Blood Bound, bringing with her the healing traditions of her people and a reverence for the old ways that borders on devotion. She is particularly devoted to Ibn Sabur, whose side she rarely strays from. Whether she serves as healer, confidant, or something more complicated remains unclear.Quiet and watchful, Ava is not quick to anger—but neither is she quick to forgive. She believes blood remembers. She believes the dead still listen. And she knows that some wounds are never meant to be healed.

The Oath of Blood
To the Bloodbound, blood is more than lineage.
It is memory.
It is the blood of ancestors spilled beneath the Steppe, the blood shared between family, the blood shed in battle, and the blood that binds one generation to the next.
Every member of the tribe is taught that they are merely a keeper of what was entrusted to them. Their duty is not simply to survive, but to ensure that the traditions, stories, songs, rites, and names of their ancestors survive with them.
Their central belief is simple:
A people dies not when its blood is spilled, but when its descendants forget who spilled it.
The Bloodbound therefore cling fiercely to the old ways. They maintain ancestral rites, honor the dead, preserve oral histories, practice traditional hunting and horsemanship, and teach their children the customs of their forebears.
But tradition alone cannot feed a starving child.
And that is where the tribe's greatest struggle begins.
